Daily journal prompts

A new question every day, hand-written to actually be answered in two minutes.

On This Day

Letters from your past self — surfaced on the day you wrote them.

Why Pagely

A calmer way to journal on iPhone.

Most journal apps treat the blank page as a feature. Pagely treats it as the problem.

Every morning, Pagely asks you a single question — a prompt designed to take ninety seconds, not ninety minutes. Answer it. Close the app. Come back tomorrow. Months later, you'll have a real archive of you: not a wall of forgotten paragraphs, but a year's worth of small, dated answers to the same kind of questions you'd ask a close friend.

It works because the bar is low and the rhythm is daily. That's the whole pitch.

The whole app

Four screens. Nothing else to learn.

No feed, no notifications you can't silence, no streak shame. Just a quiet rhythm.

How it works

How Pagely works.

Three steps. No menus, no dashboards.

1

Open Pagely in the morning

A single prompt is waiting. No menus, no dashboards, no infinite feed to scroll past.

2

Answer in your own words

Type, or hold the dictation button to speak. Add a photo if you want. Two sentences count.

3

Close the app

Come back tomorrow. Pagely keeps the archive — and quietly returns it to you on the same day, year after year.

That's it. There is no streak to maintain at 11:59 pm, no AI summarizing your feelings, no "social journaling." Just you, a question, and your answer.

What's inside

Everything in Pagely.

Eight thoughtful features. No upsell modals, no "AI" tacked on for the changelog.

Daily journal prompts that actually get answered

Pagely ships with hundreds of prompts written for adults, not therapy worksheets. They cycle thoughtfully so you don't see the same one twice in a month. Pro users can write their own custom prompts and mix them with ours.

Where did your mind wander today?

On This Day — letters from your past self

Pagely automatically resurfaces entries from one, two, five years ago on the same day. By a long stretch, this is the feature people come back for.

Voice dictation, on-device

Talk through your day. Speech is transcribed locally on your iPhone — your voice never leaves the device, never goes to a server.

Themes & typography

Light and dark. Four themes. Two type families designed for reading prose, not editing spreadsheets.

Midnight

Streaks that don't shame you

A gentle counter to keep the habit alive, plus a Sunday weekly recap. Miss a day, nothing bad happens — Pagely is not your high school gym teacher.

7day streak

Photos with your entries

Attach a single photo to each day to make the memory snap back when you re-read it. Photos sync via iCloud alongside your text. Plus reminders on your terms — morning, evening, off whenever.

Export — PDF and Markdown

Your archive is yours, forever. One tap exports a PDF for printing or a Markdown bundle for Obsidian, Notion, Bear, or your own files.

Looking for an Apple Journal alternative?

Apple's built-in Journal app captures fragments — places, photos, songs you played. Pagely is for the deliberate, prompt-driven, written reflection part. Use both. They don't fight.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Email us if yours isn't here — replies come from the developer.

Is Pagely a free journal app?

Yes. Pagely is free to download and includes a daily prompt, basic journaling, and rolling 7-day history. Pagely Pro is a paid upgrade that unlocks your full archive forever, On This Day, custom prompts, photo attachments, themes, and PDF/Markdown export.

Does Pagely work without an internet connection?

Yes. Pagely is offline-first. You can write, dictate, and read your entries with no network. iCloud sync happens in the background whenever you're online.

Where are my journal entries stored?

In your personal iCloud, using Apple's CloudKit. Pagely does not run a server and cannot see your entries. They sync between your iPhone and other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID.

Can I use Pagely on iPad or Mac?

Pagely is currently iPhone-only. iPad and Mac support are on the roadmap. Your entries will sync to them automatically when those versions land, because the data already lives in iCloud.

How is Pagely different from Day One or Stoic?

Pagely is built around a single deliberate prompt each day, not freeform multi-page entries. It has no social features, no AI summarization, no server. It's designed for people who want to journal in ninety seconds, every day, and read it back years later.

Is voice dictation private?

Yes. Pagely uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition. Your audio is transcribed locally on your iPhone and never sent to a server — not Apple's, not ours.

Can I export my journal?

Yes. Pagely Pro can export your full archive as a PDF (for printing or archiving) or as a Markdown bundle (for Obsidian, Notion, Bear, or plain files).

What happens if I cancel Pro?

Your entries remain in your iCloud forever — they belong to you, not Pagely. You'll lose access to the Pro-only features (full archive view, On This Day, custom prompts, etc.) until you resubscribe.

Does Pagely work as an "Apple Journal" alternative?

Yes. Pagely complements Apple's Journal app by focusing on deliberate written reflection with daily prompts, custom questions, and long-form recall via On This Day. Many users keep both installed.

Is Pagely safe for sensitive entries?

Yes. Your entries live in your iCloud, which is end-to-end encrypted if you enable Advanced Data Protection. Pagely itself stores no data on its own servers.

Start your archive today.

One question. Ninety seconds. Tomorrow you'll be one day in.
